Introduction

Monitors the number of connected clients on a Redis instance and fails the experiment if the count exceeds the configured threshold. Supports both percentage-of-maxclients and absolute connection count thresholds. At least one threshold must be enabled (non-zero).

This check is designed to be combined with Exhaust Connections to verify that the application detects and handles connection pressure correctly. For memory monitoring, use Memory Usage Check instead.

Use Cases

  • Set a connection guardrail during an Exhaust Connections attack to fail the experiment if connections exceed a safe limit.
  • Monitor connection count during chaos experiments to detect connection leaks caused by fault injections.
  • Validate alerting triggers when Redis connection count approaches the configured maxclients limit.

Parameters

ParameterDescriptionDefault
DurationHow long the check runs. Connection count is polled continuously for this duration.60s
Max Connections PercentMaximum allowed connected clients as a percentage of the configured maxclients. Set to 0 to disable percentage-based checking.80
Max ConnectionsMaximum allowed connected clients as an absolute count. Set to 0 to disable. This is an advanced option for environments where you need a fixed ceiling.0
