Introduction

Monitors Redis memory usage and fails the experiment if a threshold is exceeded. Supports both percentage-of-maxmemory and absolute MB thresholds. At least one threshold must be enabled (non-zero).

This check is designed to be combined with attacks that affect memory, such as Limit MaxMemory or Force Cache Expiration. For connection monitoring, use Connection Count Check instead.

Use Cases

  • Set a memory guardrail during a Limit MaxMemory attack to fail the experiment if memory usage spirals out of control.
  • Monitor memory usage during chaos experiments to detect memory leaks or unexpected memory pressure.
  • Validate that memory stays within SLO bounds while injecting faults into upstream services that increase cache load.

Parameters

ParameterDescriptionDefault
DurationHow long the check runs. Memory usage is polled continuously for this duration.60s
Max Memory PercentMaximum allowed memory usage as a percentage of the configured maxmemory. Set to 0 to disable percentage-based checking.80
Max Memory BytesMaximum allowed memory usage in MB (absolute threshold). Set to 0 to disable. This is an advanced option for environments without maxmemory set.0
