Introduction

Dynamically modifies the broker's message.max.bytes configuration to set a very low maximum message batch size. Messages exceeding this limit are rejected by the broker. The original value is automatically restored when the attack ends.

Use Cases

• Set a very low max bytes per message to simulate message size rejections and test how producers handle RecordTooLargeException.
• Verify that producer error handling and retry logic correctly deal with message size validation failures.

Parameters

Duration	How long the configuration change stays in effect. The original message.max.bytes value is automatically restored when the duration expires.	60s
Max bytes per message	The maximum allowed size in bytes for a message batch. Messages larger than this value are rejected by the broker. Set to a very low value (e.g., 100) to force rejections. The original value is restored at the end of the attack.
