Introduction

Stops a Redis Sentinel server for a given duration using the DEBUG SLEEP command, making it completely unresponsive. This simulates a Sentinel failure to test high-availability failover behavior.

Combine with Replication Lag Check to monitor replica health during the Sentinel outage. For data-plane faults (pausing the Redis instance itself), use Pause Clients instead.

Use Cases

• Test failover behavior when a Sentinel becomes unresponsive and the remaining Sentinels must achieve quorum.
• Verify that the remaining Sentinels can still trigger automatic master failover without the stopped Sentinel.
• Validate that applications handle Sentinel topology changes gracefully during a Sentinel outage.
